Thankful

Thankful
Giving thanks is part of my daily routine - it keeps me centered and focused. Today I'm giving thanks to the many people that I work with, and to all those that I have been fortunate enough to work for.

That said, this is the official time of giving thanks, and we gather together to do so. So awkward this year! Should we gather? Should we dine alone? In the end, it's not the size of the gathering or the number of seats at your table. It's the place in your heart that you keep for all those you give thanks to, that will bring comfort and joy during this most unusual Thanksgiving. Enjoy the season's bounty. I hope to see you (socially distant, of course) over the holidays!
When in doubt, test it out
The CDC is asking us to keep our gatherings small. Even a small gathering in this odd time can be scary.  However you choose to celebrate - you and your guests can feel a bit safer by being tested for COVID-19 in advance.

There are a variety of testing options here on the East End.  Sag Harbor Urgent Care will administer tests by appointment. You'll get accurate results in as little as 48 hours. If you need a test on the spot, you can walk in to Dr. Mark Kot's Southampton Urgent Care for a rapid test, and get your results in 15 minutes. This test is reportedly 90-95% accurate. Keep in mind, there can be a line (most recently reported to be about an hour on a Saturday morning, though probably shorter during the week).
Paying it forward

After you reflect on all that you have to be thankful for, why not pay it forward: do something unexpected for a total stranger. Nothing makes you feel better! Trust me. Let's take a kindness challenge: can you perform 30 random acts of kindness in 30 days? Here's a super easy list of suggestions.

Easiest of all: drop off canned and non-perishable foods to any Corcoran office, or donate to AFTEE (All for the East End) via www.CorcoranCaresAFTEE.com.

Turkey and stuff(ing)
Of course, Thanksgiving is all about the food. And you know I’m ALWAYS all about the food. And we all have our family recipes that we’ve perfected and make every year, but sometimes you want to change it up or you just want a little help so you don’t have to spend as much of your downtime cooking.  I put together some great local options for next Thursday’s meal, whether you want to pick up the whole meal, some favorite sides to complement your turkey, or just go out to eat:

Full meals via takeout or dine-in: Full meals for takeout only: Sides for takeout: Dining out:
Eating. Sleeping. Playing board games. Watching a movie. Everything is better by the fire. And you can do all of those things by the fire at 15 Union Street, which has 4 of fireplaces. For a 2-bedroom house, built in 1790, right in the heart of Sag Harbor Village, that's pretty impressive.

Thanks for reading - be back soon with more of everything that is #AuthenticallyHamptons.

All the best,

Mala
