Making History

With the Olympics in full swing, 2021 is one for the record books! Can you believe two 13-year-olds won gold and silver medals in women's skateboarding?! How about Lydia Jacoby, the 17-year-old American swimmer from Alaska who defeated the world-record holder to win gold in 100M breaststroke?! Talk about #GirlPower!

We're breaking records locally, too! As a team, we've already sold and put into contract over $175 million this year -- our best yet.

The market continues to roll with Q2 sales volume up 129% and the number of sales over $3M nearly tripled year-over-year. The only hindrance comes from a lack of inventory, which is why it's the perfect time to control the market as a seller. For a full report, read Corcoran's 2Q 2021 East End Market Report.

Competitive Edge

If you're feeling the Olympic fever and want to join in on the competitive action, it's not too late to sign up for the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon, but you may want to start training yesterday since it's just over a month away on September 12th!

And if spectating is more your thing especially with a glass of bubbly in hand I know you won't miss the Hampton Classic, August 29th-September 5th.

One from the History Books

Speaking of riding, did you know that Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders once took refuge on the East End? Find out why the 29,500-man army camped out in Montauk in 1898.

It was written...

Whether you're a literary scholar or a weekend reader, you don't want to miss East Hampton Library's Authors Night, which returns August 12th-15th after a 2020 hiatus.

I'm especially excited for some of the virtual events like Don Lemon in conversation with Cristina Cuomo and a Q&A about his book "This is the Fire," which tackles racism and systemic flaws in the USA. Click hear for a preview of the conversation, which takes place Thursday, August 12 @ 4 PM.

Take the Rain

With the inconsistent weather we've been having this summer, it's always important to have a backup plan of things to do on a rainy day in the Hamptons.

Pool Power

One of the most valuable amenities in a Hamptons home is a pool. I recently talked to Behind the Hedges about some of the most incredible pools, which included the pool overlooking Fairfield Pond at our rental listing in Sagaponack South, 149 Crestview Lane (pictured).

Or maybe you want to take advantage of the value of not having a pool, in which case 43 Garden Street and 2 Actors Colony would be great for you!

Cali Chic Moves East

Last month, we talked about the major international fashion brands making themselves at home on the East End, and now Malibu seems to be moving in, with some of our favorite beachy brands from the other coast are putting down roots.

Denim is "in" year-round, and RE/DONE in East Hampton is your stop for the coolest pair. Jenni Kayne just opened in Amagansett Square to give both you and your home the Malibu makeover. And Clare V. is also hip in the square, for a little bit of French-inspired Cali-quirk.

Summer Spice

Nothing says summer to me like Mediterranean food, and nothing says Mediterranean food like Yotam Ottolenghi, whose over 5 million cookbooks sold speaks for itself!

From vegetables, including the watermelon, green apple, and lime salad (pictured), to meat and fish, like the irresistible lamb and pistachio patties with sumac yogurt, here are 20 Ottolenghi summer recipes to spice up your next summer soirée.
